You may notice a red “OFA” in the middle of the foundation’s black logo. “Ofa” is the Tongan word for “love” and is also the name of Haloti’s late-mother. Ofa’s dedication to improving the lives of others during her life remains an inspiration for the foundation to follow — which is why the foundation memorialized her name in the logo.
The Ngatas created the Ofa Ngata College Preparation Fund in 2015. This fund, operated in partnership with our friends, the Salt Lake Education Foundation, is used to carry on the vision of Haloti’s late-mother, Ofa, by providing college-preparation resources to high school students in the Salt Lake City School District. The fund has provided ACT preparation classes for over 150 students in its first year and we anticipate assisting approximately 400 more during the 2016-2017 school year.
The Annual Ofa Ngata College Preparation Fund Luau
To help raise money for the Ofa Ngata College Preparation Fund, Haloti hosts an annual luau.
